Surface Condition Assessment

  • Excellent (0-20%): Minor touch-ups only
  • Good (20-40%): Some cracks and imperfections
  • Fair (40-60%): Multiple repairs needed
  • Poor (60-80%): Extensive surface preparation
  • Very Poor (80-100%): Complete resurfacing required

Preparation Steps:

  1. Clean surface thoroughly
  2. Repair cracks and holes
  3. Apply primer if needed
  4. Apply putty in thin coats
  5. Sand between coats
  6. Final sanding before painting

Putty Quantity Calculation

Formula:

Total Putty Required = (Surface Area × Condition Factor × Coats) ÷ Coverage Rate

Example Calculation:

For a 500 ft² wall with fair condition (40% factor), 2 coats, and 100 ft²/bag coverage:

Putty = (500 × 0.4 × 2) ÷ 100 = 4 bags
